Noorderkroon

The Noorderkroon is a steel sailing ship of the Blaze type that was originally intended for fishing.

The hull was built in 6 years in the backyard of shipbuilder and owner Jan Nooij and was launched in 1980. The ship has made many trips across the North and Baltic Seas and has participated in many maritime events, including Sail Brest, Copenhagen cultural capital, ...

This type of ship was used to fish on the Wadden Sea and above the coast of the Dutch islands. Piet van der Hooft, former skipper on a wooden Blazer , was able to characterize the type of ship as follows: "You have to hold on to a Blazer, otherwise it will come home without you". Later this type of ship was also used for salvage work.
