Vijf Gebroeders

Ship carpenter Berend Barkmeijer from Briltil bought the site of the former Van der Heij pan factory on the Woudvaart in 1889 in Sneek. His two sons Gerrit and Jan settled with him in 1889 with their sister Kunje. The yard became the property of Gerrit and Jan in 1898. Several skûtsjes were built at the Barkmeijer shipyard in Sneek during that period, which still participate in Skûtsje competitions to this day. In 1908 the yard in Sneek passed into the hands of Minne Molles van der Werf from Kootstertille.

The skûtsje 'Vijf Gebroeders' was built in 1903. It is not yet known for which client and under what name the ship was launched.
