The 'Qui Vive' was built between 1930 and 1935 as a competition yacht in the 5m Rule class. In 1958, Mr. Bouman from Amstelveen placed a cabin on it with a lowerable mast. The ship has an oak wooden hull with a long continuous keel and trailing rudder.
The hull construction was not designed for the installation of an inboard engine. The current owner bought the ship in 1983 in a poor condition and renovated it to the best of her ability, without knowing the origin of the ship. It came into service again in 1993. 'Qui Vive' is recognized sailing heritage in the Netherlands and has already made two trips to the English East Coast. There are still very few 5 meters in the Low Countries. Competitions are still regularly organized in Scandinavia.
