Zinneke

'Zinneke' is the 77th replica of the original 'Bantry sloop' that the French invasion troops left behind on Bantry beach in December 1796 after the failed invasion attempt. The original sloop was miraculously preserved in its original state and is on display at the Irish National Museum in Dublin.

'Zinneke' was built in 2014 by the vzw Maritiem Atelier in Brussels and participated in the International Atlantic Challenges of 2016 in Roskilde (DK) and 2018 in Antrim (NI). In addition, she participated several times in the 'Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan' and other meetings, such as Escale à Sète, WaterrAnt and Ostend at Anchor.

Belgium now has 4 Banty sloops: 'Carolus Quinto' in Ghent, 'Zinneke', 'Uilenspiegel' and 'Résilience' in Brussels. The 'Uilenspiegel' is on loan to the Antwerp Maritime Academy.
