Broodwinner

Since its construction in 1967, this remarkable ship has built a unique history. Originally designed as a commercial vessel, it was repurposed just a few years later as a training ship. In its early years, it served as a learning platform for four maritime schools in Ostend and Zeebrugge, playing a crucial role in shaping young seafarers.

In 1986, the ship was acquired by Lucien Desmit, who proudly brought it into the family. Since then, it has been cherished as a symbol of tradition and craftsmanship, continuing to play a significant role in educating students to this day. It is currently used by two schools: the Ibis and the Maritime Institute of Ostend (formerly known as the John Bauwens).
