Lona III

“Lona III” was designed in 1906 by J. Pain Clark, a lawyer, avid sailor and one of the leading amateur yacht designers of the early 1900s. Clark has 15 designs to his credit, several of which are still sailing.

She has sailed under different types of rigging in England, Ireland and Scotland.

The ship's structure and 140 bronze riveted ribs are crafted from oak and the hide is pitch pine below the waterline and teak above. The deck is Iroko and the new deckhouse and cockpit are built in afromosia. The spars are made from Oregon pine.

The current owners have thoroughly restored “Lona III” for six years and re-launched her in spring 2016.
