Le Français

Kaskelot was built in 1948 in Svendborg, Denmark, by J. Ring-Andersen, one of the world's most renowned shipyards. It was originally a traditional Baltic ship (Baltic trader). In the 1960s it was used as a fishing support vessel in the Faroe Islands. The ship was bought in 1981 by a British company (Square Sail) and subsequently used in numerous television and film productions, including the “Three Musketeers”, “Shackleton” and “David Copperfield”.

“Kaskelot” has been sailing under the French flag since last year and started a new life as “Le Français”. The ship has Saint-Malo as its home port. It is one of the last remaining traditional Tall Ships in Europe.
