Stowaway

'Stowaway' is a Nicholson 32 sailing yacht built in 1964, and spent her early years racing in the Bristol Channel. In early 2024, she was discovered by her current owner, tucked away at the back of a boatyard on the south coast of England. After purchase, she was sailed to Pin Mill in Suffolk, where she underwent a major cosmetic refit: both the deck and hull were restored, including GRP repairs and a complete repaint.

In the summer of 2025, 'Stowaway' embarked on a new chapter - a sailing journey to the Baltic Sea, with stops in Germany, Poland, Sweden, and Denmark. Her adventures are shared on the YouTube channel Sam Sails, where her voyages and restoration story are documented.

The Nicholson 32 was designed in 1961/62 by Peter Nicholson. The hull was moulded by Halmatic Ltd and marketed by Camper & Nicholsons. The first boat was launched in 1963 and priced at £4,900. Between 1963 and 1971, the design underwent several modifications, designated MkI to MkVII. In 1972, the MkX was introduced with a redesigned hull, improved accommodation, and 3 inches of additional freeboard. The final version, MkXI, was released in 1977.

The Nicholson 32 MkX–XI is one of the 22 approved yacht designs for the prestigious Don McIntyre Golden Globe Race.
