Lena Clazina

This steel-hulled luxury motor vessel was built in 1925 at the Boot shipyard in Alphen aan den Rijn, with construction number 789. The client was Teunis van Herk from Ouderkerk aan den IJssel, who named the ship after his wife.

Until 1985, the ship continued to transport cargo, primarily sand and gravel. In 1961, it was extended to nearly 30 meters.
In 1985, the vessel was acquired by skipper Van Veen, who renamed it Vios and continued using it for cargo transport for a while. He later chose to live on board and shortened the ship back to 25 meters.

In 1995, Hamp Harmsen purchased the ship and brought it to Delfshaven. In 2002, homeopathic doctor McLaine Pont became the owner. In 2006, Nico Zuiderwijk bought the luxury motor vessel from him to use as a residence and for recreational sailing. The ship was given a beautiful mooring spot in the historic harbor on the Westvest in Schiedam.

In the fall of 2015, Nico decided to restore the ship’s original name: Lena Clazina, as a tribute to the history of this authentic vessel.

In 2016, Terence Scholtes and Inge Koomen purchased Lena Clazina for permanent residence and gave her a new berth in the museum harbor in Gouda. They aim to further restore the ship, including reinstating the mast.
Over the years, all owners have kept the original aft cabin intact.
